Important Deadlines

M.S. Students C-Exam and Ph.D. Students B-Exam

M.S. C–Exam

• Register by March 24, 2008. Written exam to be held Tuesday, April 29, 2008.

Ph.D. B–Exam

• Register by March 31, 2008. Written exam to be held Monday, May 12, 2008.

Graduate Degree Conferral Deadlines

• June 1, 2008 Conferrals-m form to Graduate School the day after last day of spring exams (Thursday, May 8 - Friday, May 9, 2008)
• September 1, 2008 Conferrals - m form to Graduate School the Friday before fall classes begin (Monday, August 25 - Friday, August 22, 2008)

The Graduate School Time Limit (IMPORTANT!!)

The graduate school is imposing a time limit of 2 years for completing a M.S. or M.Eng. degree. We intend to follow this rule strictly. Also, for M.S. students who are not doing a thesis (i.e., all course option) the time limit is 1 1/2 years (i.e., three semesters).

All IE faculty have been encouraged to advise their M.S. theses students about this time limit. This is an official notification from the IE graduate office.

It should be clarified that this applies to M.S. and M.Eng. students ONLY and also to those who are undertaking FULL TIME study.

As a reminder, all international students are FULL TIME. Part time study is not permitted for international students. So if you are an international student and doing an M.S. or M.Eng. this rule applies to you! If you are a domestic student you are entitled to part-time study and thereby can be granted more time to finish your M.S. or M.Eng. degree.

New Policy for Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Submission Process for UB Masters & Doctoral Students

In an effort to broaden the exposure of UB graduate students' scholarly research to an international audience, the Graduate School is pleased to introduce a new service: the UB Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Web-Based Submission Interface.
